OUR PLANTATION

Since 2012, Osmin and his team have been clearing, developing and improving the coffee plantation and its facilities. With all the work done to-date to clear, clean up and prepare the soil for growing coffee, the farmable area will continue to be expanded in the years to come

SHORT INTRODUCTION TO THE PLANTATION

Since 2013

The idea for the plantation has always been at the heart of Mr. Turcios’s aspirations. In 2012, the dream took shape in the heart of the Nicaraguan forest.

1000-1200m in elevation

Located at an ideal elevation, the plantation provides optimal properties to ensure the quality of the varietals grown.

Matagalpa

Located in Comarca Yasica Sur, close to Matagalpa and the municipio de San Ramon and San Antonio de Upa.

27 employees

Our employees mostly benefit from services not available in their own place of residence.

Microlots

Micro-lots can be developed on our plantation.

350 hectares

The plantation is vast and stretches over many hectares. To date, 20% of the plantation is under cultivation.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

La Finca Renacer is nestled in the heart of the mountainous Comarca Yasica Sur region in Nicaragua, close to Matagalpa and the municipio de San Ramon and San Antonio de Upa. Located in a rainforest area, la Finca Renacer is at the perfect elevation to produce quality coffee (1200m) and is located on the famous Coffee Route, where mountains and valleys meet, with enclaves of virgin forests...

To date, the 27 Finca employees have been able to develop 55 hectares for coffee growing, out of 350 hectares on the property, transforming virgin jungle into productive areas. Environmental standards are carefully maintained, above and beyond local legislation. You can walk along the many bodies of water on the property from the protective shoreline strips, or even drink from the same waterways because the water is of an unparalleled quality and untouched, and you will see that all trees that are cut down are replaced both with quality coffee plants, and also with giant trees that provide the necessary shade to help coffee grow.
These examples are part of a long-term development plan for the land, so that the Finca can still be there tomorrow for the children of the family and the community in the heart of this isolated region. Our goal is to establish an outstanding plantation on a human scale…

OUR PRODUCTION

Planting at Finca Renacer began in 2013. Work was organized with a team of expert workers, led by a renown overseer in charge of on-site operations, advised by a certified professional agronomist, who himself is from a family of producers, and managed by an administrator residing on-site, allowing us to maintain consistency in developing nurseries and lots. This team is in charge of caring for plants, harvesting, normal production steps such as pulping, drying, sorting and transportation to the warehouse centre (bénéficio).

The stability of the team allows for a growing approach that minimizes the use of chemicals and maximizes regularity of manual care, which allows us to maintain a balance between the health of new plants and the quality of our beans.

Generally, producers in Nicaragua work using the “washed coffee” method, adapted to their space and capacity. Coffee cherries are first pulped, fermented and washed, then dried in the sun on trellises. The second so-called “honey coffee” method has them pulped dry without being fermented or washed then lets the cherries dry, which produces honey on the beans.

To pulp them, cherries are fed through a machine that separates the bean from the shell. Beans are then stored to dry at the bénéficio before they are bagged and stored in a warehouse designed for that purpose until they are shipped.

OUR DEVELOPMENT

The Finca is also developing new fermentation and drying procedures, allowing us to offer certain nuances in aromas. Also, the development of micro-lots will also allow us to produce exclusive varietals selected for connoisseurs…talk to Osmin if you’re interested, and a project can be planned with you.

Business opportunities

Are you a coffee industry professional, a food processor or potential distributor? Are you looking to roast our coffee or simply invest in a micro-lot from our plantation?

Notre expertise
